I have a personal interest in this important trial as I was the Chief Investigator for this study in East Kent at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford in my role as lead for cardiovascular research in East Kent.

Complete Revascularization with Multivessel PCI for Myocardial Infarction

October 10, 2019; N Engl J Med 2019; 381:1411-1421; DOI: 10.1056/NEJMoa1907775

Among patients with heart attacks due to a blocked artery (culprit lesion) and bystander disease in other coronary arteries this trial demonstrated that complete revascularization (stent insertion) was superior to culprit-lesion-only stenting.

Patients with all lesions (the segments which are narrowed) treated benefitted from a reduction of cardiovascular death or myocardial infarction. I consider it therefore to be best practice  that all patients with bystander lesions get those stented during same hospitalisation or shortly after discharge.
